I mix my albums in a room at Bondi Beach Australia. Concentrating on playing what I call ‘comfy records’ that create a unique vibe that I won’t pigeon hole. The albums steer away from concentrating on a specific genre. You’ll hear some rare classics they showcase the work of well established producers and up and coming artists and also the work of well known artists hiding under the guise of alter ego’s. The Sopha recordings try to take the same path of intensity. Each one begins subdued and gradually snowballs to a higher energy. Perhaps a soundtrack to a city night out. The 4 mix albums on here are one half of a series which I have put together with a friend of mine. The records I compile and mix are dance electronica and Pauls aka Cozee are a mix of Indie, folk, blues and electronica. Together we have compiled 4 albums over the last 10 years. Each of my recordings use only vinyl tracks that have been carefully picked to fit the mould of the Sopha Sound. An album isn’t mixed until I’ve stumbled across enough tracks to fill 80 minutes, meaning its about 2 years between recordings. Finishing an album is always a great feeling. The mixing in places is human and trip-ups are kept in to give character. Usually happening when cups of tea are delivered into the room.
